Annie Blankenship has been dancing since the age of two and has been trained in all styles of dance. She trained under Dance Industry’s owner and artistic director Christy Wolverton for seven years as a member of the performing company. As a competitive dancer Annie won many scholarships and titles. She received numerous scholarships from West Coast Dance Explosion, Tremaine, LA Dance Magic, and New York City Dance Alliance and also won the title of Tremaine Teen National Dancer of the Year in 2004. After graduating high school, Annie was chosen as one of twenty dancers to participate in the Edge Performing Arts Center’s scholarship program in Los Angeles. While on scholarship she trained extensively with some of the biggest names in the dance world including Mark Meismer, Doug Caldwell, Bill Prudich, J.T. Horenstein, Scott Hislop, Harry Shum, Teri Best, and Mandy Moore to name a few. After her year on scholarship, Annie participated in several professional performances including dancing with Rihanna at the MTV Video Music Awards. She also performed in the Academy of Television and Arts and Sciences TV MOVES! Live, Dancing Under the Stars Choreography Festival, Pasadena Dance Festival, and appeared in a season one episode of John Chu’s The LXD. After three years in Los Angeles Annie has returned home to Texas to pursue a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at UNT in order to become an elementary school teacher. She brings her knowledge of both the competitive world and the professional world to all of her classes and loves sharing the art of dance with everyone she teaches.
