At the age of sixteen Ms. Santana moved to Cuba to train at the National Ballet of Cuba with their company and school. After studying in Cuba, Ms. Santana trained with the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet under the direction of John White and Margarita de Saa. She attended Florida School of the Arts for two years on a full scholarship, where she received an Associate’s degree in dance. Upon graduation, Ms. Santana was awarded a talent scholarship to transfer to Brenau University, in Gainesville, GA. While attending Brenau, she performed as a soloist dancer with the Gainesville Ballet, and she also taught several classes for their ballet school.
